All figures were computed directly from the directory's structured records as of July 2026.

Key Findings

63.6% of the 2,923 roofing contractors in the directory list at least one formal, verifiable credential — a professional accreditation, trade-body membership, or license — rather than only appearing as a bare listing.
German roofing contractors are the most credentialed in the world: 96.4% carry a formal credential, reflecting the Meisterbetrieb and Innung master-trade system that legally governs the German roofing trade.
French roofers rank second at 91.1%, driven by the Qualibat and RGE certification schemes and the mandatory garantie décennale ten-year liability guarantee.

Each contractor record is a structured entry with fields for the company name, years in business, credential or accreditation status, service specialties, and service area — gathered from each company's own website, trade-association registries, and accreditation bodies such as the Better Business Bureau, the NFRC, and national master-trade rolls.

This study reads those records directly. The counts below were produced by a re-runnable Python script (data_study.py) against the directory's underlying data on a single count date, July 2026. No figure in this article is estimated or rounded up from an external source — every number traces to a specific field in the dataset. Metrics are defined as follows:

Credentialed (%) — the share of contractors whose accreditation field holds an explicit credential (a named accreditation, license, or trade-body membership), excluding placeholder values that mean only "listed" or "not listed".
Founding year published (%) — the share whose experience field contains an explicit founding marker ("Since 1993", "seit 1985", "創業 1950"). A bare number is not counted.
Median company age — 2026 minus the founding year, computed only over firms that publish one.
Manufacturer program (%) — the share naming a manufacturer certification (GAF, CertainTeed, Owens Corning, Master Elite, SELECT ShingleMaster, Preferred Contractor, ZVDH, or Meisterbetrieb) anywhere in their record.
