Roofs Wiki (roofs.wiki) is a free reference on roofing: materials, roof systems, installation and repair, maintenance, costs, energy efficiency, insurance and warranties, and how to choose a contractor. It currently holds about 130 articles, a gallery of 139 photographs from real roofing projects, and a directory of roofing contractors for major cities in the United States and Canada.

Who Writes Roofs Wiki
Articles are written and maintained by the Roofs Wiki editorial team, based in Western Canada. We work from manufacturer technical documentation, industry-association guidance (for example the National Roofing Contractors Association and the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association), building codes (the International Residential Code and the National Building Code of Canada), public agencies (OSHA, ENERGY STAR, FEMA, the Insurance Bureau of Canada), and from photographs and observations gathered on roofing job sites.
We are adding named editor bylines, with verifiable backgrounds, to our articles. Until a page carries one, treat it as editorial-team content and check its sources.
Editorial Policy
- Sources. Pages about costs, safety, insurance, building codes and warranties cite their sources inline. Other articles link to the standards, codes and manufacturer documents they rely on. If you find a claim we have not supported, tell us and we will source it, correct it or remove it.
- Figures are ranges, not quotes. Costs and lifespans vary by region, material grade, roof complexity and season. We publish ranges and say what moves them; only a written estimate from a contractor who has inspected your roof is a price.
- No sponsored articles. Product and brand mentions are for identification and comparison, not endorsement. If a page has a commercial relationship behind it, that page says so.
- The contractor directory is editorial. How listings are chosen and ordered, and how relationships with listed companies are disclosed, is explained in How We Rank.
- Corrections. We fix errors when they are reported and note substantive changes in the page history, which is public for every article.

The images in Roofing Project Photos are original photographs from completed roofing work. They are published without location data and may be reused under the terms shown on each file page.
